The Tone

about

Early yesterday morning, our friend passed out on the floor. There had been rather an excellent party the night before. Indeed, there were canapés eaten and lamp shades worn on our heads. Now, we’re afraid he can hardly get out of bed. So please tread lightly. It’s difficult for him to answer the phone. Nevertheless, he really is hoping you’ll leave a message when you hear the sound of The Tone.

lyrics

The Tone

About the time
When I wrote this line
I was slipping in a coma again
Once I woke up
I was out of luck
I knew I had lost you as a friend

Please come back
I’m a wreck
I don’t feel I’ll make it on my own
Please come home
I’m alone
Leave a message when you hear
The sound of the tone

Shuffle around
In my bathrobe
Looking at this dusty old abode
I would get off the house
And leave the coach
If only I could find my outside shoes

Please come back
I’m a wreck
I don’t feel I’ll make it on my own
Please come home
I’m alone
Leave a message when you hear
The sound of the tone

Microwave popcorn
Beer on the floor
I’m looking around me
I can’t take anymore
No!
He can’t take anymore

Please come back
I’m a wreck
I don’t feel I’ll make it on my own
Please come home
I’m alone
Leave a message when you hear
The sound of the tone

Drag (Butterflies, Honda Pavarotti) joined up with the Finn Swingley, Brian Daley, and Joe Daley (Demilos, Soft Speaker, The Saturday Nights), The Embryos make music fun. Peace and love. ... more
