National Absurdatory

Todd Leiter-Weintraub There is a band that I was (am?) a little obsessed with - Butterflies. They made a couple of great little records of indie rock that went, sadly, unnoticed back in the 90s and early 'aughts. There is at least one member of that band in The Embryos, and more than a semblance of Butterflies' sound. Clearly 90's indie rock, but exceptionally well-done. And I am so glad that this band, and this record exists.
RIYL: Every great indie band you ever loved that never quite made it.

about

Come along with us now, won’t you? The Embryos are going to explore the strange universe from the National Absurdatory. You are invited to discover a new cosmic wheel. You may even spend tonight until the morning birds sing. A funky embryo told me I need someone to hold me. That idea is catching fire. I have you twisted in my game like being trapped in a pile of rattlesnakes. I realize you can be a mystery. Will you disappear on your rolling wheels leaving only smoldering remains behind?

about

The Embryos Chicago, Illinois

We have been friends and played together in various bands for decades. We first met George Drag when our bands played together at an American Legion show in 1992. Formed in autumn 2016 when George T. Drag (Butterflies, Honda Pavarotti) joined up with the Finn Swingley, Brian Daley, and Joe Daley (Demilos, Soft Speaker, The Saturday Nights), The Embryos make music fun. Peace and love. ... more
